Swansea boss John Hollins has declared himself pleased with the performance against Carmarthen after a goal from Nicolas Mazzina secured the 1-1 draw after Neil O’Brien had put Carmarthen ahead. |
Speaking in his column on the official site, Hollins said " A draw wouldn’t appear a great result, but as we always say, these are games are for getting fitness back, and looking at people. We’ve done that today, given players a run-out, seen a bit more of what the trialists can do, and overall, I am pleased with the performance. I think the Swans fans here have gone away happy, they have seen a few different players, and seen some things to get excited about." |
Hollins had made several changes from the side that won so comprehensively at Aberystwyth in midweek, bringing in Jason Jones for Roger Freestone and also giving further run-outs to trialists Mazzina, Mercos Lencina, Mamady Sidibe and Diego Ordonez. |
After painting his office a nice shade of White, Hollins is now looking forward to the season with renewed optimism after fearing at the end of last season that he may not have been here " I’m excited for the new season. We’ve seen some new things, Mamady looked good when he came on, and Mazzina had another fine game. Things are starting to look good again." |
The Swans now move off to Newport on Monday night for the next in their pre-season programme with Hollins declaring This is what we want, if you look at our fixtures, they build up, getting harder, until we are ready for Macclesfield on August 11th." |
Hollins is expected to make a decision this week on which of the trialists will be signing after reports yesterday that David Arranz has already agreed to join Swansea after international clearance was requested from his club. |
