Roberts was expected to sign for the first division outfit after spending almost three weeks there on trial and played for them in a midweek friendly last week. |
However, it is believed that Rotherham offered รยฃ60,000 for Stuart which would have fallen well short of the รยฃ250,000 that Swansea want for his services. Speaking on the official site, Stuart said " It’s all about money, and they say they can’t afford me, so I’ll be back at the Vetch on Monday for training, and I’ll be available for the Newport game if the Gaffer picks me. I’m still on a week-to-week, so I will have to wait and see what happens. I rung the Gaffer after the match today , and everything is fine." |
Acting Chairman Mike Lewis though was less than happy with the way that Rotherham conducted themselves with regards Stuart and said " I’m disappointed that it’s taken them three weeks to tell Stuart they can’t afford him. Whilst we are very happy that he will back with us on Monday, Stuart has not trained with us at all, and we have no idea of what stage he is at. I have to ask why couldn’t they decide earlier? Having said that, I would like to welcome Robbo back into our plans for next season." |
It now comes down to a case of whether the club will offer Stuart a contract that he is happy to accept or whether we are now just marking time until a club can meet the club’s valuation of him. We at JackArmy.net would love to see Stuart stay at Swansea for next season but he does need the contract that his talents deserve. |
