Plymouth Game Off

Swansea’s game at Home Park, Plymouth on September 1st has been called off after the Swans had five international call-ups for games that week.
Roger Freestone is one of four goalkeepers called up by Mark Hughes for the games with Armenia and Norway. Hughes has named Paul Jones, Mark Crossley and Darren Ward in the same squad with all three likely to be ahead of Roger in the proceedings. It was an eventful night for Hughes who had to hold his press conference in the grounds of the Imperial Hotel in Llandudno after fire broke out in the hotel. Maybe it will breathe some fire into the Welsh team who are yet to win a game in the qualifying group despite leading on several occasions.
Meanwhile, Under 21 boss, Jimmy Shoulder has named 4 Swansea players in his squad. Stuart Roberts, Gareth Phillips, Lee Jenkins and Jason Jones all are included for games against the same opposition as the senior squad.
Shoulder has also showed that he will not stand for any messing around within the squad by telling Rhys Weston, Kevin Evans and Lee Kendall that they will not be considered for the Under 21 team again. The Cardiff trio broke an after match curfew in Belarus.
Swansea born John Hartson, along with Nathan Blake are both suspended from the Armenia game but will both be available for selection four days later.
No date has yet been given for the rearranged game.
