KH: How did that last meeting with John Hollins go?
MT: Well, he is so withdrawn, I couldn’t work him out. I asked him if he wanted me to stay and he never answered me, he just looked at me with a blank stare on his face. That was it and I decided to go. I didn’t want to, I love Swansea, but you can’t play for peanuts, it was a hell of a decision to leave with Catherine down there and all that, but I had to do it. In fact it was the hardest decision football wise that I have ever had to make, but unlike some, at least I made a decision. KH: What’s it like at Brighton? MT: Completely different, you know exactly what the score is. I have worked with Mickey Adams before, he is a very motivated manager and was as a player too. He knows exactly what he wants and tells you exactly what the score is. That’s all a player wants, to know where he stands, and with Mickey you know exactly where you stand. I can see why he has brought together such a good side at Brighton, they go out there and die for him, that’s the attitude of everyone there. And that’s why they will go up and be successful next season. |
