Nathan Tyson has refused the chance to extend his loan period at Swansea until the end of the season. Tyson, who next week will come to the end of his third month loan was offered the deal but decided to head back to Reading to try and feature in Alan Pardew’s plans at the Madjeski.
Speaking to the official site, Colin Addison said ” I thought the deal was done and dusted to be honest. As it stood, Nathan would not have been available for Sunday’s game, as they didn’t want him cup-tied, but after I had convinced Alan Pardewto agree to it, we were rushing against the clock to get the correct documentation completed before 5 o’clock. ” It was only then that it became apparent there was a problem, and when I spoke to Nathan, he said that he wanted to go back to Reading. Of course I’m a little disappointed, as we had worked hard to try and ensure he’d stay here, but in the end, it’s his decision.”
Now, I am a little confused at this point. I was told by a reliable source earlier in the week that Addison was not that concerned about keeping Tyson and Shuttleworth spent Thursday trying to secure the deal in Reading. Did they both want him to stay or just one of them?
Whichever, it is not overly important as Tyson will return up the M4 after next Friday’s game with Hartlepool and resume his Reading career. Tyson is someone who has the potential to go a long way but, in my opinion, there are also things that he needs to learn before he is the finished article.
Ironically, the one goal he scored is the run away leader in the poll for Swansea’s goal of the season to date. At least, we have that to remember him by!
