Tony Petty has dismissed claims made on the unofficial web-sites at the end of last week that the backroom staff at the Vetch have not been paid. Petty claims that this is ‘down to the BACS’ system and that the money was on the way to all of them.
Pay Day at the Vetch was last week but we are led to believe that the money will be paid into the accounts of the players and backroom staff next Tuesday, later than normal. I get paid by BACS every month and my money is never delayed – the only delays are caused by it leaving the originating account (in this case Swansea City) later than scheduled.
Petty has also claimed that the sale of Mamady Sidibe is nothing to do with the payment of the wages at this moment in time. Speaking to JackArmy.net before yesterday’s game, Petty said “Sidibe will be playing this afternoon and the sale is nothing to do with the payment of the wages.
There are definitely conflicting stories coming out of the Vetch again at the moment. Petty’s claim that they have been paid is true to a degree in that the money may have left the club’s account but I always class myself as being paid when the money is in my account which we understand for all will not be until Tuesday.
The BACS system used by the banks and building societies is not foolproof but money does not sit in the BACS version of cyberspace for days – as mentioned above delays are only caused by the originator of the payment sending instructions late.
Tuesday we will wait for to see if the wages go into the account or not but as far as I am concerned they have not been paid until the money is actually sitting in the recipients bank account.
