JackArmy.net has learned that following the impending departure of Matthew Bound to Oxford, Steve Watkin will be the next out of the Vetch Field doors, possibly for a link up with John Hollins at Rochdale?
Watkin was the leading scorer under Hollins during his time at the club and Hollins is known to be a fan of the former Wrexham man who will surely end up being known as “the man who scored the goal that knocked Arsenal out of the FA Cup”
Having said that, Watkin is not a firm favourite at the Vetch and has just two goals to his credit this season, one a penalty and has not scored in the league since the opening day of the season at Macclesfield.
Whether it is Rochdale that are showing the interest remains to be seen but I cannot imagine too many people shedding a tear if Watkin is to go and the transfer fee is hardly likely to increase the stay of Petty and Lewis for that much longer.
What is of more concern is the transfer dealings of the club since that fateful day back in October which now reads
OUT – Stuart Roberts (Wycombe), Richie Appleby (Kidderminster), Matthew Bound (Oxford), Steve Watkin (?)
IN – Steve Brodie (Scarborough), Terry Evans (Barry), Neil Sharp (Merthyr)
League players replaced with non-league players. Bound and Watkin are also two of the seven sacked on that black Wednesday so hands up if you know who is going to be next?
