Local radio reports are suggesting that the deal for Mel Griffin to take control of Swansea City is as good as completed and that the London based property developer (?) will be in on Monday. Let’s wait and see…
Despite the belief being that the statement from Lawrence Bailey yesterday would put Griffin off, Swansea Sound have reported that the deal is very much alive and it is just the technicalities that we wait for.
Griffin is supposedly backed by someone prepared to invest รยฃ750,000 into Swansea City – this much we wait and see. Call me cynical but I believe that this story may have another chapter or two to run before Swansea City swears in it’s new owner.
We all know the feelings of the fans are that Mel Nurse should be the one to assume control and it is hard to see what Griffin feels is in this deal for him. If he has someone with รยฃ750k to invest then of course it is a badly needed injection of funds that the club needs and that amount should wipe out the debts that Tony Petty has accumulated during his three months in the chair.
Of course, fans will be sceptical of the new owner, and me more so and it worries me the story of Griffin offering players to Hull before he even gets control. Of course, we have not seen the full hand of Mel Griffin as yet and until we do we have to sit back and wait.
It’s not the option that we wanted but then that is typical Tony Petty. What we have to remember is that nothing is over until the fat lady sings and although she may be warming up the voice box, Griffin has not signed as yet and therefore is not our new owner.
Let’s wait and see what the next few days brings, I just have this feeling that there are a few more twists and turns to experience before we play Macclesfield next Saturday.
