Were you like me, involved in lots of activity, or did you have a restful time?

During the summer season many of us have had withdraw symptoms from the football, and nobody needed reminding of the dismal season we just had. How we nearly lost the club through (to be polite) bad management and people I would consider sharks. At the end of the season, I for one was happy we were not relegated and the finance although not perfect was in place to enable the club to survive. The final match of the season was the F.A.W cup at Ninian Park where Swansea lost to Cardiff by a very well taken free kick, again there was trouble caused by the idiot element, that haunt the two clubs.

In the light of this the (TRUE) fans of rival Jackarmy and the Sleeping giant sites, decided to hold a friendly football match between the two sites. Reeco for the Jackarmy and Mosser for the Sleeping Giants set about the organisation of an away and home game to anyone interested from the two web sites. Well as you know the jackarmy army. Net (J.A.NET) football team took off and through 6 weeks of training, led by Reeco and lee Morgan (watched over by myself) the team was formed and to date are undefeated. In just four games the guys have gelled and a comradeship (I have not known since my forces days) has developed. Most of you know that we as a team took the sleeping giants in the home game (4-1) and improved on the away leg (0-4) of the competition. More than that a friendships has developed between the two rival teams, build on mutual respect on both sides. Cardiff’s infamous Armchair Blue and his plan for world domination, Wolf, SBF1 (Steve) and new to the board, Collarbone to mention a few, are all lovers of football but just supporting a different team (the wrong one of coarse). As a Swansea fan I am more than happy to call these people friends they have even donated an undisclosed sum to Rogers Testimonial fund.

We as the J.A.Net team are even arranging to go to an international match with the Sleeping Giants, a far cry from a few months ago when the rivals were at each other’s throats across the board. After all we are rivals not enemies although there will be some that disagree but this element won’t be found amongst the J.A.Net or the Sleeping giants team. Well I cannot describe the Pride I had (only because Reeco was in Cardiff buying a comb, returning with his quiff in tact, shaken but not stirred.) being presented on behalf of the team, with the Billy Ayre Trophy (to go alongside the Harry Griffith trophy) giving us the well deserved double. What a team. Both trophies will be displayed (permanently) in the Harry Griffith Bar for all to see, but not until after the Rushton and Diamond game where the J.A.Net squad will be introduced to all the fans, (not individually of course), led out at Half time by Reeco and myself as managers (although I still claim to be the odd job man) and Lee Morgan as captain to display the trophies to all. This will be another proud day for all the J.A.Net squad. But they deserve it, contrary to what some might say. Let us not forget the others involved (not in the team) in making it a great occasion, people like Jeff who donated the pasties or Carol Evans who prepared the celebration buffet, and what a buffet. (They did us proud).

Also the sponsor’s of the Morfa stadium, the Harry Griffith Trophy and the club for their help. To everyone that has been involved I on behalf of the team thank you. This has been a time that Swansea fans have worked together to make things happen. With more games on the way with several other clubs, rival sides and a game against the Swansea veterans at the Morfa being organised as we speak, anyone interested in a bit of football fun or would like to Join a winning team contact me on my E-Mail on c.d.hannan@ntlworld.com
