Strange happenings in the football world Swansea’s and Jamaican player Walter Boyd was probably the first player to be sent off having spent zero seconds on the pitch, Boyd came on as sub against Darlington and became involved in some penalty area pushing and was shown a red card by ref Clive Wilkins who later confirmed that as the game had not been restarted technically the sending off had taken place when Boyd had been on the pitch for zero seconds
In 1945 Grimsby Town were ordered to stop the practice of giving the opposition a crate of locally caught fish, as it could be considered a bribe
