Carling Cup Draw

Swansea have been drawn away to Bristol City in the opening round of the Carling Cup after the draw was made today.

The new name for the Worthington Cup was unveiled yesterday and today’s draw is probably about as good as it could get for the Swans with a match against local Rivals. Bristol City of course will also visit the Vetch on 19th July for a pre-season friendly.

This is the Swans first game against the boys from Drizzle since 2001 when they were beaten 3-1 at Ashton Gate. Bristol, of course were beaten over two legs by Cardiff City in last season’s play off semi final and will start the new season as one of the sides tipped for promotion.
