Reds boss Sir Alex Ferguson has agreed to let Tate stay on loan until December 28th but has refused the chance to let him see out the season at Swansea.
Tate has formed a solid partnership with Izzy Iriekpen at the back – with Izzy himself seemingly set to sign a new deal before the weekend trip to York. It is understood that Brian Flynn asked to keep Tate with him until the end of the season – a request that was rejected with Flynn being told that the player will return to Old Trafford at the end of his second month – 28th December.
Tate will not be allowed to play in next weekend’s FA Cup tie against Stevenage.
On the subject of Iriekpen, Flynn told the Western Mail
“We’re not anticipating any problems with Izzy, these things can take time, but I’m expecting him to sign any day now.”
Danny Nardiello returned to Old Trafford yesterday claiming that the Swansea faithful did not get to see the best of him while he was at the Vetch.
Nardiello returned to the home of the Premiership champions yesterday after failing to find the target in a month at Swansea and unable to guarantee himself a starting place in the team.
Speaking to the Western Mail,, Nardiello said “If I’m honest, I’d rather go back to United and play for the reserves than sit on the substitutes’ bench at Swansea,
“Don’t get me wrong, I had a good time at Swansea and I’m grateful for Brian Flynn for giving me the chance to play first-team football.
“But I made the decision not to stay for another month based on the fact that Brian couldn’t promise that I would be playing.”
“I don’t think the fans saw the best of me,
“It’s disappointing because it was my first time in the football league – Sir Alex had never let me go out on loan before.
“But I’ve learned a lot from my time at Swansea and, who knows, perhaps I’ll get the chance to go back one day.”
Rumours suggest that the last side to face Nardiello in action, Darlington, expressed an interest in taking him on loan after his return to Old Trafford but the youngster turned them, and several other interested clubs, down. Nardiello though does seem set to play in United’s first team next Wednesday when they take on West Brom in the next round of the Carling Cup. Alex Ferguson had said that he would have featured in the squad for the last round had he not been allowed to come to Swansea on loan.
