Swans Starlets Take On Juve

Swansea City Football Club Centre of Excellence Under12s/Under13s have been invited back to Italy to compete in a PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT after a very successful tour last year.

Having won 4 out of 6 games last year, and finishing 9th in the tournament out of 16 teams, the young starlets have been invited back to compete against the best Italy can offer.

Last year, the young Swans finished above Parma, Fiorentina and Livorno. This year they have been drawn in Group A with JUVENTUS, FIORENTINA AND RICCIONE (Serie C). They will be taking a squad of 19 players and Head Coach, Kevin Hodder states,

“The squad we are taking are a talented group who have the ability to perform very well this year. We had a fantastic time last year and having learnt a great deal from the tournament, I hope we can improve on our good placing of 9th position.”

Their first game will be against Riccione and their last game against Italian Giants Juventus.

“It is vitally important that our young players have the opportunity to compete against Europe’s best. The Italians are technically gifted; however, it was proven last year that we have gifted players as well, and that we can compete to a very high level. We were very well liked and as the first non Italian team to ever compete in this prestigious tournament, we acquitted ourselves superbly both on and off the field.”

The squad fly out on Thursday 8th April from Gatwick to Pisa and return on Wednesday 14th April. The squad and their parents have been fundraising a lot and Kevin would welcome a main sponsor or any donation no matter how large or small.

If you would like to donate, please contact Kevin by email at kevin.hodder@ntlworld.com or via the Vetch Field on 01792 633410.

Kevin has also arranged with Jumpin Jaks to hold a fundraising night on Tuesday 30th March where MADNESS tribute band (and mad Swansea fans), ‘Baggy Trousers’ will perform live!

Tickets for the evening are selling fast and if you would like to buy advanced tickets which cost ร‚ยฃ2, please contact Kevin on the above details. Drinks are ร‚ยฃ1.50 for any drink all night and all door proceeds will go towards the tour. So, please, please support the night, as these are the future players of our beloved SWANSEA CITY F.C.

Thank you for your continued support.
