Southend 1 Swansea 1 |
Report By Ananova Ten-man Swansea hung on for a 1-1 draw against a Southend side who dominated the match for long periods. Swansea goalkeeper Brian Murphy received his marching orders late on for deliberate handball outside the box as Lawrie Dudfield raced in to score. But Southend could not make their numerical advantage pay as the visitors held on for a point. Swansea had taken the lead against the run of play just past the hour mark when Kevin Nugent drilled in from eight yards after Shaun Byrne and Paul Connor had combined to set him up. But the home side needed just a few minutes to equalise when Dudfield headed in from close range after Drewe Broughton had flicked on a long throw-in from Mark Bentley. Comments by Andy Donaghue |
