14/1 The Swans For Promotion |
Odds on the Swans with Ladbrokes are 14/1 for the title with each way odds of a quarter of that figure for a place in the top three come next May. It is hard to argue with that ranking based on a league position of 10th last season and with much of the summer transfer activity still to come. Beaten play off semi finalists Northampton are instilled as the early favourites at 9/2 with Conference champions Chester City following them at 9/1. Relegated sides Grimsby and Wycombe are priced at 10s and 11s respectively whilst the beaten side this afternoon Mansfield join Lincoln, Notts County and Yeovil at 12/1. Oxford find themselves with a carbon copy of our odds at 14/1. Looking at the least likely sides for success, Ladbrokes price Rochdale at 66/1 with Scunthorpe and Macclesfield at 50/1. A decent each way bet looks possibly either Shrewsbury or Rushden who are both available at 20/1 for the title. Last summer, the Swans were available to back at 33/1 – unsurprising based on the great escape of the season before not that it made any difference at the end of the season. Personally although the tag of 9th favourites is possibly about right, judging by our performance in terms of points away from success, I would have been tempted to price the Swans promotion chances a little higher. What happens over the course of the summer to these odds remains to be seen but I am sure that there will be a fair few Swans fans out there punting their usual fiver or tenner on Jackett’s men before the start of the season.
