Now That’s More Like It |
For once we have two players being linked with the Swans and both of them being talked about by the only person that should and that is the manager. Kenny has finally broken his silence and is talking about his two new targets – Adrian Forbes and Gary Monk. Both of them sound decent players but more to the point it is the fact that the manager, naturally enthusing about them, that gives more credence to the article by talking about what he sees in them and as the football manager then he is the one that should be making these comments. Not, as we have had in recent weeks the chairman. Jackett tells the Evening Post regarding the two players “I have made them both an offer. And from their point of view I don’t think that would drive down here without realistic ambitions to play for Swansea City. “I have really been looking forward to this week because it’s a chance for me to build on the other signings. These are very exciting times and with all things being equal we could be looking at three new players by the end of it all. “I have obviously been looking for a goalkeeper and wanted to strengthen at the back and in midfield. It’s nice to have Neil Cutler coming down tomorrow, it will also be good to secure these players too. “Adrian is a very good player who came through the ranks at Norwich. He has mainly been a right winger but you can see by his record from last season he can score goals too. “Garry is versatile and can play either centre back or full back. He can also play in midfield and is the sort of player I am looking for.” Now these may only be words and they may have been words echoed by the chairman, tea lady and toilet cleaner at the Vetch but they sound so much better when they come from the right person rather than someone else? This could be a pivotal week in our close season and, casting minds back to last summer, the right thing is being done in the manager is doing his job first and foremost and doing it early before, I suspect, taking a well deserved break. Advantage Mr Jackett. |
