Forbes Mark II Arrives On Trial |
Chairman Huw Jenkins confirmed to Real Radio this afternoon that the defender would be on trial at the Vetch whilst he is also standing accused of the rape of a 15 year old girl in March this year. Jenkins confirmed to Real Radio that the club would not be in a position to offer him a contract whilst that charge remained ‘in the air’ and stated that the club would never offer a contract to a player with any form of criminal charge over his head no matter what the charge may be. Forbes was signed by R’s boss Ian Holloway in the summer of 2001 from West Ham and won the player of the year award in his first season at the club. However, he missed the run in to Rangers promotion at the end of last season and now finds himself one of many players released from their clubs at the end of the season. In total he made 111 appearances for QPR. In relation to the rape charge, three others have also been charged. From what I have read of this player he sounds as if he would be a useful addition to the squad providing that the charges against him prove to be unfounded. There will no doubt be criticism drawn though for taking a player on trial whilst this charge remains in place. Fingers crossed that matters come to a conclusion shortly? |
