Tickets To Go On Sale For Last Vetch Game

Leigh Dineen, vice chairman of the Swans has announced that the tickets will go on sale next month for the final game at the Vetch as part of a three match link.

The tickets will take into account the games against Leyton Orient on 19th October, Chester City on 29th January and the big one against Shrewsbury Town on 30th April. The Chester game is subject on that date to neither side being involved in the 4th Round of the FA Cup.

The tickets must be purchased in advance of the Leyton Orient game and will only be sold to people wishing to buy tickets for all three games. The statement from Leigh stated that the club felt that this scheme would ensure that these tickets, which are available for all parts of the ground, would ensure that they would at least fall into the hands of the regular fan rather than people who just wanted to attend the last game. Tickets will be available for all parts of the ground although only 400 seated tickets are available within the ground for the last game, the rest on sale being terraced tickets.

Leigh was also at pains to state that 12 match season ticket holders as well as those trust members who do not hold a season ticket will be able to purchase their tickets for the last game at a later date. He also stated that any 12 match season tickets purchased after 6th November will not include a voucher to guarantee that vital last game ticket. People joining the trust after 17th September will also not have any guarantees that they will be able to get a ticket for the last game at the Vetch.

Commenting on the scheme, the trust spokesperson said “The Trust Board were recently advised of the club’s plans relating to the sale of tickets for specified games including the all important ‘Final League Game at the Vetch’ . The Board believe that the scheme detailed in a club Press release today is a considered attempt at solving, in advance, a difficult ticketing issue.

The club has catered for “12 Book” Season Ticket holders and non season ticket holders who are Trust members in that the opportunity will be there for such persons to have priority when purchasing tickets for the very last game itself. As always the club and Trust have worked together to ensure that Trust members have a level of priority before tickets go on sale to the general public.

However, it has also been agreed that Trust membership arranged after the 17th September will not entitle the member to the advantage of such priority ticket purchase for the very last league game. Whilst the Board will continue to actively encourage membership of the Trust it was our view that membership for the purpose of ‘priority ticketing’ in this case was not correct, hence the ‘cut off date’ agreed.

There are clear opportunities to fans to avoid disappointment by virtue of purchasing a 12 Book season ticket BEFORE 6th November. People joining the Trust after the 17th September will still be entitled to priority tickets for Cup games etc which has always been the case”

Details on when the tickets will become available will be released at a later date.
