wansea Development Centre’s second Football Festival was another great success with a huge increase in the numbers in attendance. Over 800 players took part in the six age groups from U8-U13. Llanhilleth, Aberaeron, Aberdare, Carmarthen and, of course, local teams from Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot (Aberavon)
All the players had an enjoyable time except for Cyril the Swans who was disappointed that he couldn’t get a game during the morning tournaments but went home with a few bruises anyway.
As we reached the quarter-final stages the game obviously became more competitive but more importantly the standard of football played was maintained at a high level. The organising committee would again like to thank the trophy sponsors – Makro, Brisco, Harcourt Printers, Hurns Soft Drinks, www.jackarmy.net, Bont Scaffolding, and generous donations from Mega Bowl, Gowerton Golf Range, Brisco, Toby Carvery, Cockleshell, Laserzone and Bergoni for their continued support.

Thanks also to the development coaches and volunteers who helped make the day a success.
We hope that everyone enjoyed the day and look forward to seeing you all next season.
Swansea development centre continues to grow in status as we enter our third full season. Last June, we played in a tournament against Chelsea and Everton at Chelsea’s training ground in Dorking, as their main centre at Cobham was being upgraded. We played at ages, U-10.11 and 12, with the Swans players gaining much praise from opposition coaches and supporters for the skills and commitment they displayed. We returned home undefeated in any age group having raised a few eyebrows amongst our Premiership hosts.
