POSTER PROFILE – Stan_The-Jack

Stanley Gibbons Livingstons is somewhat of a living legend in the world that is the official travel club (or FOSCFA as the older generation know it) Every other week during the football season you will find him enjoying cream teas and scones on the buses travelling to some of the god forsaken holes that are known as football grounds in the UK. It was a bug that Stanley got early as his parents are indeed Swansea’s very own Ugo and Julie Vallerio. However, such was the shame of what happened on the bus coming back from Carlisle on a Tuesday night they soon put Stanley up for adoption.

Stanley is easy to find on the message board and predictable in his times on posting. If you want to avoid him, then on away matches simply check the time via AA route planner and add one hour for a service station top and you will easily avoid the Just got back post that comes every other Saturday.

It may also come as a surprise to you that Stanley, despite being highly educated with a degree in geography, still has a bed time story read to him every single night. At present he is halfway through the "AA Book of the Road 2002" having recently finished "103 ways to get to Darlington through the midweek rush hour." Such is Stanley’s fascination with travel his adoptive parents regularly abandon him by the side of the road many miles from home but as yet he has never failed their challenge to "get back home from here you bas " (see picture)

Amongst his FOSCFA family though Stanley is somewhat of a legend and that legend has started to spread wider and wider. Only recently he had a phone call from none other than Tony Christie and he soon put him right on which way was best to get to Amarillo although Tony was slightly unhappy to find that Sweet Marie had upped and married the local butcher she had been waiting so long.

The highlight of Stanley’s year is undoubtedly the date in June when the fixture are released at which point he updates his campaign map for the coming season with red pins for away grounds, yellow highlighters for major routes and a piece of string to ensure that his 1:10 scale map remains accurate at all times. His biggest frustration in life is finding matches called off at reasonably short notice as tippex spoils the look of the campaign map although he loves putting those entries in the ‘places you went for no reason at all’ handbook he keeps by the side of his bed.

When not posting on the message board it is safe to say he is usually at some football ground in the UK or failing that driving his toy cars around the lifesize model of spaghetti junction that he has in his back garden.
