Garry Monk is the unsurprising choice of Kenny Jackett to replace Roberto Martinez as club captain of Swansea City.
Monk stood in for the Spaniard during his spells out of the side last season and was captain on the pitch for both the Swans’ appearances at the Millennium Stadium. And with Martinez being released at the end of last season there seemed only one option available although the targetting of Wycombe defender Roger Johnson made us wonder if he would get the armband.
Jackett’s decision was confirmed by the Evening Post today just 24 hours after Monk told them he was ready for the challenge. “To be the captain of Swansea would be a privilege and an honour,” said Monk in last nights paper. “I feel that I’m at the right age and the responsibility of being captain can help raise your game. “To my knowledge the gaffer hasn’t decided who will be the captain next season, but when we get back to training I will be speaking to him about it.”
Meanwhile there is no new transfer activity at White Rock following the ariival of Darren Pratley more than a week ago.
