Defender Garry Monk was signed by Kenny Jackett from Southampton in 2004, he had an interesting first season in South Wales where he was sent off 3 times and served a 7 match ban after being sent off against Shrewsbury. He was solid in his first season as the Swans gained promotion but did look a little dodgy at times last season; he does read the game well but often his distribution lets him down. He was also our top scorer in defence with two goals! The new Swans captain will be pushing for a starting place as the competition for centre-back is looking good for next season.
