Robbo Announcement On Monday |
|
Huw Jenkins has said that the club will make an announcement on Monday over the future of midfielder Andy Robinson amid huge speculation that he is on his was from the Liberty Stadium – potentially with a £400,000 price tag on his head for a short trip up the M4. The two parties have been in discussion for several weeks over a new contract for the midfielder who has made a big impact at the club in his three years here. However, there has been much condemnation of the way that player and agent have handled the negotiations with countless posts on the message board stating that the club are doing right not to give into demands. What those demands are we currently don’t know and can only go by rumours posted but a figure of £5,000 per week is one that is commonly banded about. Speaking in the Evening Post, Jenkins commented ”If Andy Robinson doesn’t agree to sign a new contract we have to consider all the options, ”Andy is not holding the club to ransom. He is simply trying to get the best deal for himself, while it is our job to get the best deal for the club. Hopefully we can find some common ground, but the club will make a statement on Monday.” The Western Mail was more forthright this morning reporting that the player had told the club that they either coughed up what he wanted or he would be leaving with all parties (Jenkins, Jackett, Robinson and Neil Sang his agent) meeting on Thursday evening to discuss the three year contract offer being made by the club. Whatever happens with this as a football club we need it resolve and we have to hope that Monday’s statement does exactly that. If it means Andy Robinson moving on then so be it but a new season is just around the corner and we need to have all issues tied up and resolved ahead of the Cheltenham game next Saturday. Roll on Monday |
