It was probably not entirely unexpected but Swans manager Kenny Jackett was dealt a blow today with the confirmation that both Darren Way and Owain Tudur-Jones will be out for between four to six weeks with their respective injuries.
And if you add into the mix the news that Darren Pratley will definitely miss one, and possibly the next two games then you have a real headache as the manager looks to build on the 6th place that his side currently occupies. The good news is that both Kris O’Leary and Shaun Macdonald should shake of niggles and be in the squad for Saturday
Way has joined Tom Williams in going under the knife as the Swans look to find out exactly what has plagued the man they purchased from Yeovil at the start of the year. Whilst Tudur Jones has been suffering through injury since being forced off at Swindon last New Year’s Eve
“We have decided to treat Owain conservatively for the next four to six weeks,” explained Swansea physio Richie Evans. “He has seen a consultant who is more than happy with his progress, but there is a tendency for this type of injury to go backwards before it goes forwards. “The area Owain had operated on in the summer is still maturing and he joined up with Wales just for the experience.”
“We have assessed the biomechanics in Darren’s shin, which came up normal, and we have operated on the bone,” Evans added. “We have now looked at the muscle and the consultant says he needs an operation to release pressure. “I’m quite confident that it is the muscle which has been holding him back and that after a four-to-six week recovery period, his problems will be resolved. Kristian O’Leary has also been struggling with a nasty dead leg but should be fit for the Vale trip. So too should youngster Shaun MacDonald, who strained a hamstring in the FA Cup win at Newport. “Because Shaun is still growing, he’ll show lots of soft tissue symptoms over the next six or seven months,”
