Jackett Looks Forward

Kenny Jackett was understandably delighted after his side secured their place in the third round of the FA Cup with a 3-1 win at Darlington. Goals from Britton, Robinson and Akinfenwa cancelled out an early strike from Darington and sent the Swans into the hat for the third round draw.

And Jackett is hoping that the progress will see the Liberty Stadium hold it’s first FA Cup tie and the first for the Swans since they were drawn against Preston in the 4th Round back in January 2004.

“It was a great cup tie on a very heavy pitch and after Darlington’s recent run of results it was a great win for us.” Jackett said after the game “We can now look forward to the draw for the next round and hopefully this one will be at home and the nation can see us at the Liberty Stadium for the first time.”

Kenny Jackett surprised everyone initially with his team selection and then his willingness to change that selection before the first fifteen minutes had been completed “We made two changes in the first half-hour of the game. “The first was tactical when Tom Butler went off. But we had to change things around because they were causing us a lot of problems. “They seemed to work and we had some great chances in the second-half and the goals from Andy and Ade will do their confidence the world of good.”

Opposite number David Penney was disappointed with the nature of the goals conceded and felt that his side gave a good account of themselves “Basically we got what we deserved after conceding two bad goals. But we did well against a good side from a higher division and it was silly mistakes that cost us. “We gave as good as we got and we probably played better then a lot of the teams that they will play against in their division.
