We Didn’t Turn Up

Kenny Jackett wasn’t hiding his disappointment at the Swans lacklustre display at Brighton last night as he moaned after the game that the real Swansea City didn’t turn up.

The Swans slipped to a 3-2 defeat against an injury struck Brighton side and the scoreline only had half a degree of respectability about it because of a late strike from Rory Fallon which halved the deficit. There was to be no heroics from Fallon though as he missed a second chance in stoppage time which would have snatched a point from the jaws of defeat – Fallon blazing over when seemingly well set

”Rory had a very good chance – the ball dropped on his left foot and it looked as though it might have been an open goal in front of him,” Jackett said. ”But I would never have a go at anybody for missing a chance. We were below par from start to finish, there’s no doubt about that, and although Rory felt he should have scored I would not knock him. ”We never really got going on a night when the game was there for us. We had plenty of possession and territorial advantage but were unable to break Brighton down. ”Despite that we got ourselves back into it at 1-1 and then went and conceded two goals from set-pieces. That was very frustrating.”

”It wasn’t the real Swansea City,” Jackett added. ”The passing Swansea who create lots of chances. ”We can do a hell of a lot better than that and we will do at Blackpool.”

They will have to do it without captain Darren Pratley though who will serve a suspension for his late sending off for two bookable offences.
