The last time that Swansea and Carlisle came head to head was at the Millennium Stadium last April. Goals from Lee Trundle and Bayo Akinfenwa were enough to see the Swans lift the Football League Trophy for the 2nd time in the competition’s history.
That defeat still hurts Carlisle but they overcame that to win promotion from League Two last season – just twelve months after returning to the league having won promotion from the Conference.
And now enjoying life in the upper half of League One they prepare to visit the Liberty on Saturday knowing that a win could life them above a Swansea side that was eyeing the Championship back at the beginning of April.
And Carlisle defender Danny Livesey says that he is eyeing revenge for that defeat back in April “I think we owe them one,” said Livesey, who could move from right-back to his preferred position of centre-half, with Irishman Peter Murphy suspended for the trip to Wales. “I can’t wait to play in this one. I’ve been looking forward to it since last season. “When they beat us in the final, we said we would get them this season. Hopefully we will go down there and do that at the weekend.”
Carlisle are expected to bring around 300 fans to the Liberty for the game
