Welcome Home Kris

Maybe an Open top parade is going a bit far but Kenny Jackett is preparing to welcome Kris O’Leary back to the Liberty Stadium after he spent his first month since turning professional away from Swansea.

KOL has been at Cheltenham for the last month but that deal ends this weekend and with the news that Owain Tudur Jones has seen his season end it is to be a welcome return for the local product

“If you look at our central midfield options, where we have Owain Tudur Jones, Darren Way and now Shaun MacDonald out, Kris will be a fantastic one to have around,” Jackett said. “The last two games he’s played for us, against Peterborough and Port Vale, Kris has come off injured himself. “But he has now got some much-needed match practice under his belt and he will come back into our group for the away games at Crewe and Huddersfield next week. “I think I’ll need to change players for those games because it hasn’t worked for us in the past when we’ve played consecutive away games in a short space of time and tried to stick with the same team. “That means there will be opportunities for players like Tom Butler and Kris. He will be a good addition for us.”

“Supporters always think that if they were wearing the shirt they would give total commitment and Kris has done exactly that,” said Cheltenham boss John Ward, who was keen to keep hold of the 29-year-old. “He has been a Cheltenham Town player and not a Swansea City player during his time here and the supporters have a real affection for that.”
