Swans Chairman Huw Jenkins has said that the contract talks with Bayo and Izzy were conducted in a "fair manner" and the deals were right for the club when they were put to the players.

Jenkins made his comments after both Bayo and Izzy hit parting shots at the club during the talks which ended with both players leaving – Izzy for Scunthorpe United and Bayo for a "League One Club" who has yet to show their hand with regards the striker.

Both felt that they had not been offered deals that they deserved with the club only offering one year with an option for a second should certain clauses be met.

Talking to the Western Mail, Jenkins said “I’m not disappointed at all by any comments made, myself and Roberto felt we dealt with the negotiations in a fair manner and had put the correct deals to the players,

“If the players and their agents decide to look for better terms elsewhere, then that is quite within their rights and no one is going to criticise them for that.

“I’ve had a lot of dealing, in business or football, and these situations arise from time to time. You get to a point where if you give people everything they want they love you, if you don’t, they hate you.

“We wanted Bayo to recover from the injury and get back to fitness here, that’s why we initially offered him a deal a month ago, I know our supporters will be disappointed to see both players go, but that is the way football goes I’m afraid.

“I can only thank them for their commitment for us and wish them all the best of luck in the future wherever they go.”

The Chairman was also confident that the new faces – starting probably with Darryl Duffy – would be in place sooner rather than later “I know we have good replacements lined up for those leaving and I’ll only say a few new faces will be joining us soon.”
