DORUS HAMMERS FOREST

Dorus De Vries has made himself unpopular in Nottingham by claiming that FEC should be ‘ashamed’ of themselves after leaving the Liberty on Saturday with a point that they did not deserve.

De Vries made his attack after watching the FEC players celebrating their point at the end of the game, something which didn’t go down well with the home players. "Forest should get the hell out of here quickly because they must be feeling ashamed after getting hammered like that" he told the Evening Post.

"They celebrated like they had won the Carling Cup and I suppose if a draw is what they came for then they’ve done well.

"But we hammered them – they had one shot and didn’t do anything else in the game – and if we keep playing like that I know the points will come our way.

"The clean sheet is nice and the way the boys in front of me defended was great. The only disappointment was that we didn’t win the game, but we must be patient because if we carry on like this I’m confident there will be a lot of teams losing a lot of points to us.

"We should have more than one point so far. At Oldham we dominated possession and were brilliant on the ball. It was the same again against Forest and the only thing missing is the goals.

"But I’m confident they will soon come. We’ve got a couple of great strikers so I’m looking forward to the rest of the season. We’re a hood side and we just have to start killing sides off"

De Vries comments certainly went down well in one area of Nottingham with one fans site declaring "If ever there was an example of why professional footballers should be banned from talking to the press after a game, then Swansea City keeper Dorus De Vries is a shining example to them all." Quite why though is beyond me because pretty much what he said was spot on. Maybe the misty eyed lookbacks at those European Cup wins have clouded the memory on what happens in games. Mind you, with less than 1000 there, maybe it’s easy to forget that the big club tag is a thing of the past?

Either way, Dorus was pretty much spot on and the wins will come – starting Saturday at Walsall, I have a feeling in my waters!
