Fresh Link With Moore |
The name of Darren Moore has been top of the speculation lists for most of this summer and it appears that the Swans have not given up on the Derby defender just yet. The Evening Post reminds us today that Moore twice visited the Liberty in the summer for talks but hopes of a move appeared dashed as rumours of wage demands surfaced together with Moore starting the season in Derby’s line-up. However, two games later on the bench and Martinez has not given up hope yet on gaining the services of the experienced defender who played with assistant boss Graeme Jones when they were both at Doncaster. However, the paper also reports that Martinez has other targets in mind for a loan move and he also strived to get Dunfermline’s Sol Bamba before the deadline before the defender opted to sign an extended deal in Scotland instead. Martinez seems almost certain to bring in a defender pretty soon after teh loan window opens on Saturday and the move for a defender was confirmed by Chairman Huw Jenkins but he refused to link any names with the position. But Jenkins was still angry over yesterday’s Western Mail article linking the clb with John Hartson, telling the Evening Post "In no way, shape or form and I as chairman or Roberto as manager trying to seek publicity of lead anybody up the garden path. "we are not looking to get our supporters hopes up or down, however it is they feel in this particular case, and these stories are pure press speculation which Swansea City do not want to encourage. "If we are going to sign John Hartson or any other player, we will do our best to get him signed before we publicise it. That would not have been the case a few years ago, but this club has moved on. We are run far more professionally now." What are your thoughts? Share your views on the Message Board |
