Ferrie Will Be Better For Ban |
Ferrie Bodde’s moment of madness last Saturday will be something he learns from says his manager as he contemplates a weekend off thanks to the postponement of the Cheltenham game. Bodde was sent off in last weekend’s 2-1 home defeat to Doncaster for a ‘head butt’ on Brian Stock – his opposite number. Although contact was minimal the referee had no choice but to issue an immediate red card and the 10 man Swans lost their one goal advantage to be disappointingly beaten. And as Ferrie sits out a three match ban – he will miss the games against Carlisle (Sep 14) and Cheltenham (Sep 18) as well as the 3-2 win over Millwall last Tuesday. But Roberto believes that his midfielder will learn from his red card and told the Evening Post "Ferrie felt the responsibility straight away "He is a responsible character and he wants to put that right. His attitude in training and around the players has been spot on and he will want to make up for his mistake to his team-mates. "He let everyone down but I’m sure we will see a more mature and more accomplished Ferrie Bodde when he returns. "Ferrie has come from a completely different type of football – they interpret it in a different way, whereas in Britain there is more fair play "But it is not an excuse, it was unacceptable. He will be ready should the same situation arise. "He had that sort of treatment in Holland, but he’s a winner and you will see a great reaction from him to try to express himself and play his best football. "This weekend we will assess fitness levels of the squad and work tactically on certain things," added the Swansea boss. "We need to recover as well and get ready for Carlisle. "In football terms it is not that far away while I have a good opportunity to use reserve team football on Tuesday to give some of the new players some game time." What are your thoughts?
