Cricket Without Boundaries |
Whilst not strictly a football subject we are always happy to help fellow Jacks in their fundraising activities and that is why this article is here. Mark England is a Swans fan living the ‘wrong’ side of the Severn Bridge but he has travelled all over the country watching his side and he is now taking part in a fundraising trip abroad coaching cricket. Let’s let Mark take up his tale Hi Phil, I’m off toKkenya to teach kids in three different townships how to play cricket and am unashamedly asking if i could put an article on ja.net and a link to my fundraising page. I am doing the icc coaching badge on sep 22/23 missing leeds away. Basically we are using the medium of cricket to deliver an aids awareness message to the kids and the adults we coach, hoping to break down barriers and the myths/stigma that go with the disease. Basically the week will consist of training adults to how to coach the kids, then monitoring the adults coaching the kids and assisting them, then finishing up with a big tournament. All flights, insurance etc are paid by the volunteer, me, and no refund/donations are given back to me in anyway. Along with the time that is the volunteers commitment to the cause. What the money will go towards is cricket equpment for the kids, clothing etc, anmd some accomodation costs where we aren’t shacked up in a disused school. All details of the charity can be found on www.cricketwithoutboundaries.com My donation page is http://www.justgiving.com/cwb-markengland I am also hoping to get something in the swans programme. Cheers Mark What are your thoughts? Share your views on the Message Board |
