Duffy Delighted To Be Off Mark

It’s taken long enough but Darryl Duffy is back amongst the goals. A slow starter, by his own admission, he grabbed the first of Swansea’s two late goals last night having capitalised when Robinson’s shot was well saved by their keeper.

It was Duffy’s first competitive goal since making his move from Hull permanent during the summer and was a relief to the striker. "I probably should have run into the net to get the ball back to the halfway line, but emotion took over," he said after the game.

"I thought I’d done everything right in the first half with a header but the keeper pulled off a fantastic save.

"I thought it was going to be one of those nights again so I’m delighted to get off the mark for the season.

"It was so important to get the win. It shoots up right up there – we’re only three points behind [third-place] Carlisle now. It was vital to get the three points.

"We seemed to do it the hard way but we’ll take the points however they come. We had a couple of chances in the first-half so we were a little bit disappointed not to be up at half-time.

"They hit us with a sucker punch at the start of the second half, but I thought we showed great character and belief in our own ability to come back and win the game."
