Feeney Hopes For Start

Feeney was a substitute at Elland Road last weekend and was unlucky not to open his account during the game but with the news today that Duffy will miss the forthcoming games against Brighton, Swindon and Orient, Feeney is in line to make is starting debut.

“You don’t want any of your team-mates to get injured and I hope Darryl recovers soon,” explained Feeney via the Swans official website. “But I hope I’ve shown the manager that I’m ready to step in.

“I was disappointed not to put the one chance I had away at Leeds, although I did hit the target. Perhaps with a few more games under my belt it would have gone in.

“It will be great to start on Saturday, although I’ve been in football long enough not to count my chickens.

“The important thing is that we get the three points. We’ve got two home games in the space of a few days and everyone says that if you want to be successful then you’ve got to win your home games. That’s why we’ll be going all out for six points.

“I think it also showed at Leeds on Saturday that it’s important you make your home ground a fortress.

“While our support at Elland Road was fantastic, we’ve got to create an intimidating atmosphere here at the Liberty and make sure that teams don’t look forward to coming here. We’ve got to make it a fortress.”

Roberto was not in the mood though to confirm a start for Feeney, just adding his comments of “Warren is an option to replace Darryl, but there again we could change our shape altogether. You’ll have to wait and see.

“But I know Warren will be ready if called upon. He has shown a great desire and hunger to play since he arrived and I’ve been pleased with his attitude.

“He’s been a model pro and there’s a lot more to his game than just as a goalscorer. For example, he’s got a huge work-rate and holds the ball up well. He gives a lot to the team.”
