Orlandi Happy At Swansea

Orlandi Happy With Swansea Lot
For most people I guess making a league debut in front of 30,000 people is reasonably difficult. For someone who has been used to training alongside the multi-million pound stars at the Nou Camp then it must be a walk in the park.

Well, maybe not but that is the scenario that faced Andrea Orlandi last weekend when he was thrust into the heart of the battle between Swansea and Leeds at Elland Road. The Swans had just fallen a goal behind and Orlandi was introduced to try and add some alternatives to their attacking options but before he could have any impact, Prutton scored the second goal and the game was as good as over.

But Orlandi hopes to build on that experience and with him expected to play some part against Brighton this weekend, it may prove to be a valuable introduction to English football and one that makes him a stronger player.

In an interview with the Western Mail, Orlandi said “It was an amazing feeling to get my debut at Leeds

“It’s a unique feeling that you can only get in those sort of situations. There were a lot of emotions and I was really happy to get 30 minutes out there.

“It was a bit of a shame because we conceded just after I came on and it was hard to come on and play at 2-0 down. I tried to do my best but it was difficult to help pick up the team.

“I have had three weeks here and it gets better every day, but I need a bit more time before I am at my best.

“What I’m looking for is to start in the first XI as soon as possible. Not just for cup games but in the league as well.

“I came here at the end of last season to see Roberto and to look around the club

“I liked what I saw and it was always an option to come here. But I was waiting because I had a contract with Alaves.

“I have been really surprised by how high the level of football is in League One

“At home I just knew it was the third level in England. But now, having seen the teams we play against, I realise it’s a really good standard.

“The supporters are amazing as well. It’s more than the first division in Spain.”

Orlandi was the last of the foreign imports to arrive this summer which have given a real continental feel to the Liberty dressing room. Dorus De Vries, Ferrie Bodde and Angel Rangel have already established themselves in the first team along with Jason Scotland whilst Bussy Mayol has appeared in the cup competitions for match practice.

He was a last minute capture before the window shut at the end of August – along with Warren Feeney who also made his league debut last week. But it is his Spanish colleagues that have helped him settle into life at Swansea

“We all learn English together at Swansea College

“We are all in different classes but it’s OK.

“It’s really good here and we are all friends. Everything is new for us and we enjoy it all. It’s good because if there are any difficulties we can support each other.”
