Swans striker Warren Feeney hopes he has repaid some of the debt he feels he owes the fans after the warm reception he has received from them following his loan move from Cardiff.
Feeney was on hand to head home the Swans winner against Swindon and he was naturally delighted at his first goal since January and his first for the Swans. Feeney was on the end of a perfect Tom Butler cross to put the Swans back ahead after another former Cardiff player – Christian Roberts – equalised for the Robins just five minutes previous.
Speaking after the match, Feeney said “I know there is rivalry between the two clubs, but the Swans fans gave me a great reception when I left the field against Brighton last Saturday
“I hope I’ve repaid them with the winner against Swindon and we can kick on from here.
“It’s always nice to get your first goal; and even better to get the winner.
“It was a great cross from Tom (Butler) and I just gambled to the back post. I knew straight away when Tom crossed it that there was only one winner to the ball as I was coming on to it.
“Hopefully now I’ve grabbed my chance and given the manager something to think about for Saturday, but the important thing was that we picked up three points at home.
“The support was fantastic tonight and the boys were delighted to get the win.”
