“We made quite a few changes, but I thought the boys did a very professional job,
“There’s never an easy game and I thought Wycombe proved a strong side.
“But I thought we turned in a very good performance in the first half. They put us under a bit of pressure in the second half and I think the injury to Darren Pratley knocked us out of our stride a bit. But the back five soaked the pressure up and defended very well.
“It was never going to be easy because some of the boys have played five games in 15 days.”
And with reference to not liking the competition rules
“It should give clubs like ourselves the opportunity to give younger talent a chance, but unfortunately we can’t do that
“And that’s not to say we don’t want to win the competition, but when you’ve got tired legs it’s far easier to pick up injuries. Darren (Pratley) probably wouldn’t have been on the field if the rules were different because of the amount of football he’s played recently.
“Hopefully they’ll have a look at the rules again for the future.”

“I’ve been waiting for three months for that first goal,
“There was a lot of emotions inside me which came out in the celebration.
“But it was very important for me to get off the mark. I’ve been working hard because it has taken me a bit of time to get used to the club and British football, but I feel I am getting better every day.
“There is still a lot more to come from me though and I’m not at my best yet. I want to play an important part for the club, but that goal will give me more confidence which is always vital for a striker.”
