No striker wants to go too long without getting off the mark for their new club and Bussy is no different. Although very much on the fringes of the first team during the season to date he had not managed to find the net until he slid home Paul Anderson’s ball into the box on Tuesday.
But now he is off the mark he feels that the fans will start to see his true potential as he looks to build on that first goal. Speaking in today’s Western Mail, Bussy said “I am getting better every day and, while I’m not at my best yet, I think I will get there soon
“Sometimes when you go to a new club there is an easy path to the first XI.
“But other times you have to adapt to a new club and a new squad. It has been difficult for me.
“When you move to British football it is more difficult to adjust if you are a striker. The power and way defenders play is very different.
“I’m really happy about the goal. It’s very important for strikers to score and to get my first goal for Swansea is great.
“I have been waiting for three months to score. There were a lot of built-up emotions and it just came out in my celebration.
“I think I’m going to get better now and that goal will give me the confidence I need to go on and play better
“It always affects you if you are a striker and you haven’t scored a goal.
“You always think, ‘I need a goal.’ But you have to keep focussed.
“I have been working so hard these last three months and I knew the goal would come.
“Now the results are here and I have my first goal as well, so that is good.
“There is so much competition up front and maybe the other strikers’ experience of British football helps them on the pitch,” he said. “I’m still getting used to the style of football here.
“But I’m trying to get into the first team and Tuesday’s game was part of the process.
“We have got a good squad.
“We have got Jason Scotland, Darryl Duffy and Warren Feeney. But we also have Bussy and I want to be important for this club in everything we take part in – the league and cups.”
