Warren Feeney heads back to Bournemouth this weekend intent on adding to his scoring run that has seen him net in the Swans last two league games.
It had been nine months without a goal for the on loan striker until he netted against Swindon at the Liberty and he doubled his tally for the club with the 5th in last Saturday’s rout at Leyton Orient. And now he heads back to the club where he played over 100 times at the front end of his career.
Bournemouth’s home form is miserable – just one draw is their return from five league outings at home and Feeney is keen to heap more misery on them and keep the Swans challenge strong at the top end of the table.
“It’s the club where I made my league debut and I will always look out for them” he told the Evening Post
“I was at Leeds as a kid and I went there initially on loan. I didn’t see it as a step back because I wanted to play league football. “I enjoyed my time there and I owe them a lot. Obviously I hope they stay up, but I have a job to do with Swansea this weekend. “They had a great win (4-1 at Crewe) last weekend and we can’t underestimate them. “But I know they have been short of players and it’s hard for them because there’s no money down there. “I think for them this season’s about staying in the division. “Some of the fans might night see it like that, but it’s hard when you’ve got your hands tied behind your back.
“We’ll go there full of confidence whoever we’re up against. We’re scoring plenty of goals and the boys at the back have done well to keep clean sheets in our last two games as well.
“I’ve said all along that the last few months have been start-stop for me and that once I got one goal I would go on a run,” he added. “I’m enjoying my football again and I’m looking forward to every game we play. “The last time I went back to Bournemouth was with Stockport and we lost 2-1. I got some grief from the fans, then I scored and got a bit more so I gave a bit back. “Hopefully things will have quietened down a bit now, but if I score again it will be a great bonus for me.”
