Great Away Support

Let’s make no mistake about it this is an away support that teams in higher divisions would be proud of and testament to the feel good factor that seems to have spread back to the club again since the change of management. And whilst it is foolish to become carried away at this stage of the season it does show the potential that the club has in travelling in numbers and that there is a support there that would not look out of place in a higher division.

Looking at the fixture list between now and Christmas as well then away trips to Yeovil and Bristol Rovers will be well supporters as is likely to be Tranmere because of the current league position of the two sides. Millwall, despite being a Tuesday night will attract many of our exiles, who make up a decent percentage of our away support leaving just Carlisle on the Saturday before Christmas as the potential low point of these but by that time it seems likely that the average figure may well have increased. Especially if you factor in the game after – Swindon on New Years Day and a travelling support well in excess of 2000 predicted.

The Swans have for a couple of years been backed by decent numbers on the road and this season appears to be no exception. Many reasons are cited for this – better atmosphere, great day out and even the obvious better performances, although the last one I think is as much down to the fact that teams have a different tactic against us at the Liberty than they do when we are the away side. It is also mentioned that the away fans are less likely to get straight on the backs of the players as sections do at home which is another valid point.

Either way the club should be proud of the numbers of fans that they are taking on away games and the work should continue to try and get the numbers back into the Liberty for home games and hopefully our home form will become as impressive as our away record this season to date.

But for now, let’s enjoy the moment, let’s keep behind the lads and trust in them to deliver on the pitch.

Who are we?
