Five Back For Swans

After watching his side compile four straight victories, Roberto Martinez received a further boost today with the news that five of his injured players have all declared themselves ready for action.

Although Martinez is extremely unlikely to throw any of them into the action on the back of the team’s current form it can only be good news that Leon Britton, Andy Robinson, Alan Tate, Darryl Duffy and Owain Tudur-Jones are ready for action when selected.

Britton and Robinson are both ready having been out longer than first anticipated – both limped out of the 2-1 win at Cheltenham with hamstring injuries a month ago. Tate has been out for two months with a fractured kneecap whilst Duffy had an aborted return against Swindon after initially being injured at Leeds.

Tudur Jones meanwhile has been out for most of the last two years after initially picking up an injury at Swindon on New Year’s Eve 2005. He hasn’t played for eleven months but came through a reserve victory at Forest Green on Monday evening.

“All five have been working hard with no reactions,” said Swansea physio Richie Evans. “They are back in full training now with a view to being available for Saturday.”

It’s difficult to see where any of these will fit into the starting line up at present and therefore a place on the bench is the best that any could hope for at the weekend although whether that happens remains to be seen.

But whichever way you look at it the more options available to the manager then the better the Swans will be for it and it’s difficult to argue that these players can add things to the squad.

Welcome back lads.
