The newspaper claimed that the Swans boss was high on Wigan’s list following the sacking of Chris Hutchings earlier in the week and that the oversight regards Roberto’s contract would make their job easier.
However, Huw Jenkins has adamantly denied that there is a contract to be signed and insists that a three year deal was signed back in February this year.
Speaking in tonight’s Evening Post, the Chairman said ”There’s no truth at all in the claim that Roberto hasn’t signed a contract with us.
”He is a man who doesn’t leave anything to chance, and he signed a three-year deal within a couple of days of agreeing to take over. Nothing has changed since then.’
”If there was anything in these stories I would tell you – and I haven’t heard anything,” added the Swansea chairman.
”In football you get lots of rumours and, the more successful we are under Roberto, the more rumours there are likely to be.
”But I’m not even thinking about him going to Wigan. Their chairman is not dull. It hasn’t really worked out for them with Chris Hutchings and I would imagine they are going to go for experience this time.
”As for Roberto, I don’t think he would want to go anywhere.
”He is a trustworthy, honourable man – that’s why we brought him here – and we fully expect him to honour his contract.”
