Monk was denied a last minute equaliser controversially when the referee ruled his header out for pushing – a decision that was blasted by manager Roberto Martinez.
And Monk believes that the Swans now owe their fans a Liberty win after collecting just 9 points from the 21 available so far this season.
Speaking to the Evening Post, Monk said ”We shot ourselves in the foot again against Huddersfield
”I thought they were the worst side to come down here this season.
”Other teams have at least looked to try to get a goal on the break, but Huddersfield didn’t look to do anything and it was a massive disappointment to come away with nothing.
”Right from the off they were just aiming for a draw, but we lost concentration for a split-second and gifted them a goal.
”They offered absolutely nothing apart from the goal and we lost the game. They didn’t win it.
”It’s hugely frustrating, for us as well as the fans, but we owe definitely owe them one now.’
”We’re having a lot of joy on the road and long may that continue,” he added.
”But the Liberty is our home. We want to impress there and we want to win games there because that’s what’s required to win promotion.
”I don’t think we’re playing that badly at home, but we have got to adapt to the way sides are playing against us.
”We have to dust ourselves down, keep believing in ourselves and make sure we bounce back from the Huddersfield defeat.”
And with reference to the goal that wasn’t?
”The ref said I pushed him, but all I did was something we do in training every day,” he said.
”You’re going to make a bit of contact, you see it all the time, but for some reason he decided it was a foul.”
