Austin was an early replacement for Painter in Monday's victory over MK Dons which eventually ended in disappointment with a penalty shoot out defeat. And whilst many have called for Roberto to move into the loan market ahead of the weekend, it is the veteran Austin who will get the call to try and help extend the Swans unbeaten league record to 18 games at Huddersfield today.
Speaking to the Evening Post ahead of the game, Austin had this to say
"I'm not taking anything for granted. It's a shame what happened to Paints and I'll just keep doing what I've been doing all season, making myself available," said Austin.
"I would like to have played more games, but as long as the club are benefiting from what's happening on the pitch, whatever I want is irrelevant.
"Getting the three points is vital and if I do get a chance I'll do my best, that's all I can do."
Austin played at the Galpharm stadium last season – where the Swans surrendered a 2-0 half time lead to lose 3-2 and he is out to avenge that defeat
"We went in at the break 2-0 up, then they came out of the traps in the second half, threw everything at us and suddenly we found ourselves 3-2 down," said Austin.
"From my memories of Huddersfield, it's always been a tough place to go.
"There are grounds around the country that are more hostile than others and that is one of them.
"They're a decent team, they've got good players and at home they've got a really good record."
