Hartlepool Retain Duffy Interest

Duffy was a hit at Hartlepool – scoring 5 goals in 10 appearances – and Wilson admits that, despite missing out last summer, he has tried since to bring Duffy back to the North East.

There were rumours in January that they had a bid accepted for the player but he elected to stay at Swansea and Wilson has not suggested that anything is in the pipeline ahead of the window closing tonight.

Duffy played in Monday evening's 2-2 draw with Bristol Rovers and is in line for a start on Saturday afternoon against Wilson's side.   "We are always interested in good players. Whether we can get them or not is another matter." Wilson told the Hartlepool mail

"Darryl is a very good player. We have tried to get him a couple of times but we have not been able to.

"He played very well for us in that loan spell and we know he is a threat.

"Swansea play a certain system, which makes opportunities difficult to come by, but he came on at half-time against Bristol Rovers and helped to change the game.

"I don't know what Roberto's thoughts are but as a general rule, you don't change a winning team.

"You have to say they have done well without him in the side and I don't think there will be any argument from Darryl about that – the form of Scotland has just been fantastic."

Both sides were in the hunt for Duffy last season but it was Swansea who won the battle in the summer when they paid £200,000 to secure his services but Duffy has not scored a league goal since September and only one goal in all competitions since then – against Brighton in the JTP back in January
