The Swans sealed their fate for next season with a 2-1 victory at Gillingham, a feat that Jones says is fantastic for Welsh football.   It comes less than a week after Jones lifted Cardiff into the FA Cup Final and he still harbours play off and promotion dreams of his own.

Speaking after his side beat Blackpool 3-1 to remain close to the play off places, Jones said “Roberto Martinez has done a fantastic job and I am really pleased for everyone associated with Swansea City

“Ourselves and Swansea have given our fans something to cheer about and to be proud about this season.

“I know all about the rivalry between the two clubs as I was down there last week and got some real stick.

“But Swansea’s promotion is fantastic for football in South Wales.

“We hope to emulate what they’ve achieved by making it into the play-off spots.”
