MacDonald was a late replacement for Paul Anderson as he came off the bench to ensure the Swans got the victory that they wanted to ensure that there were no doubts about who ended the season as League Champions.
And MacDonald – pretty much the forgotten man this season – was determined to seize his chance when the call came from Roberto
''I've been waiting for my chance all year," said Macdonald.
"It was my first league appearance and I'm just glad to have had the opportunity to show what I can do."
''It was great to come on – I just wanted to prove that I am good enough to be in the team.
''The gaffer has asked me to work hard all year and I've done that.
''The main thing for me is that I've steered clear of injury and that has allowed me to train hard all year and I've learned from it.
''But I want to be playing games, like any footballer does.
''This gave me the chance to show the fans that I am good enough and that I have not been forgotten.
''I came on and did what I know I can do.''
