Robinson is mulling over what has been reported as a double your money offer to be part of Swansea's assault on the Championship but he has yet to commit to paper and this led Roberto to issue the deadline earlier in the week. With a host of Championship clubs – all unnamed – reported to be interested in the midfielder, Roberto is keen to put the matter to bed one way or the other as he looks to compose his squad for next season.
And Tate – who himself signed a new deal recently – has urged Robinson to sign up and be part of Swansea's return to the top two divisions after an absence of 24 years.
"As a team-mate and as a friend, Andy has been fantastic." Tate told the Evening Post
"I can't pay him any higher compliment than to say he is a great lad who's good in the dressing room, and he's a very good player whose goal record speaks for itself.
"Because of what he brings to the team and who he is, I really hope he stays.
"I don't know whether he'll stay because I don't know what his reasons for not signing are," Tate added.
"He came from non-league football and the club took a chance on him.
"It's a good story, but that was a long time ago now and he doesn't owe the club anything just like they don't owe him anything.
"I hope Robbo stays – we all do – and I think he wants to stay too."
The Post reports that talks between the player's agent and the club have reached a deadlock and this could actually see Robinson leave the club on a free agent after five seasons. There was no problem though for Tate who signed up almost immediately having been offered his own personal deal
"It was never in doubt for me because I'm happy here and am contemplating staying at Swansea for the rest of my career if I'm wanted," Martinez's vice-captain said.
"I have a lot of friends in the area and can see myself living here even after I've finished playing."
