A Den Haag football web site claimed that the Merseyside club had bid the huge sum for the player who joined Swansea just last summer.
The Dutch site reported that John Van Zweden had emailed the site and claimed that the Derby offer (reported at £750k) was actually related to appearances and could total £3m whilst it also suggested that the same source had stated that the club had already rejected a £2.4m offer from Everton.
The figures allegedly quoted always seemed a little far fetched for a midfielder who had only played one season in the third tier of English football and John Van Zweden moved quickly to distance himself from the alleged comments.
He immediately made contact and asked for it to be known that he did not make the reported comments and that there was no truth in them one way or the other.
Bodde has been the subject of bid(s) from Derby which have been rejected by the club and you have to suggest that if it ever went to the levels alleged then we would probably reject them but I cannot see any club taking the figures that high at this moment in time.
And for now, Ferrie Bodde remains a Swansea City player.
